A Renaissance Garden in San Quirico D’orcia

CRANE-Berkley Park

Scarsdale, New York

The seven-acre park sits in the center of a residential neighborhood in Scarsdale, New York. The park with its stream-fed ponds was built in conjunction with the homes in the late 1920's as both a visual amenity and a water collection area. Wildlife advocates on the park board pushed for a comprehensive plan to re-vegetate the park with native plant materials. The park board wanted a phased plan showing tree plantings and broader areas of native shrubs, perennials, grasses and aquatics. The goal in the master plan was to create more spatial interest, seasonal color, and wildlife habitat.
